FAQ

  • The Kūpuna Ali’i can accommodate 6 passengers, plus captain and crew.

  • We include snorkel gear, a dry bag to keep your belongings dry, Hawaiian fruit juice, water as well as snacks and fresh local fruits. Fishing gear is included in fishing packages.

  • Our guests should bring sunscreen (please use a mineral reef safe product and try not to use the spray sun screens on the boat), towel, phone or camera, any medication you need. A light raincoat or windbreaker will usually be handy as well.

  • We meet and depart from Kukuiula Small Boat Harbor.

  • Motion sickness is just one of those unpredictable things that comes along with ocean boating. We do our best to make you comfortable, and provide ginger ale, saltines, etc, to take the edge off. Our close proximity to the harbor and shorter tour times make it a bit more bearable. We do recommend a non-drowsy motion sickness medication such as Bonine if you are prone to motion sickness (no refunds are given for motion sickness).

  • We do not have a restroom on board and suggest you use the restroom at the harbor prior to departure.

Note: If someone in your group has a medical condition that causes bathroom related issues, our boat is unfortunately not a suitable option.

  • Some tours may not be suitable for guests with disabilities or special needs. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • We highly advise not using the full face masks as the research has shown them to be potentially dangerous. We recommend a traditional mask and snorkel, which we provide.

  • Although we recommend our tours for those who are comfortable with the ocean, we definitely accommodate those uncomfortable in/on the ocean, as well. You’ll be provided with expert care and instruction from our crew of Hawaiian watermen and women, along with life jackets.

  • Our south shore departure location gives us close access to the local reefs and ecosystems around the south shore. This is not typically a Napali tour due to the long commute times, usually in challenging waters.

Note: We may provide an exception if weather and arrangements are made for this specific charter. Please call to discuss.

  • We adhere to a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule please contact us at least 24 hours before your tour. Cancellations within the 24 hour period are subjected to a full charge. Exceptions and rescheduling can be done in emergency situations on a case by case basis.

  • We love kids and families, and love to share the ocean with your ohana. Due to the nature of the trips we do have a 4 year old minimum age for our tours.

  • We do offer celebration of life services and offer them with our utmost respect of the family. It is our honor to be part of your process.

  • Sharks are one of the rarest creatures we potentially encounter. The likelihood of even seeing a shark is extremely low.

  • Although our sighting percentage is very high, the whales are wild animals and sometimes sneaky and uncooperative. We do our best to get to the best locations to find the animals, but during our trips we also share history, culture, sightsee, look for other wildlife, and try to make it the best experience possible. However, we cannot guarantee you’ll see them.

Tour Disclaimer

  • Ocean Conditions

All tours are subject to the discretion of the captain and the conditions of the waters. Guests should be of sound body and mind, and have a sense of adventure as Kauai's waters are often exposed to open ocean winds and chop.

  • Health Conditions

For the safety and well-being of all guests, our adventures are not suitable for individuals with neck and back problems, pregnancy, or other serious conditions. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Sea Sickness

To ensure the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests, our tours are not suitable for those prone to seasickness. We recommend taking over-the-counter motion sickness preventatives as a precaution. No refunds will be given for rain, chop, or seasickness.

  • Cancellations & Refunds

If the Captain deems the conditions unsafe, we will cancel and offer a full refund, or offer the ability to reschedule. We also adhere to a 24 hour cancellation policy. Any cancellations within 24 hours are subjected to a full charge, unless a valid emergency situation.
